American

Tuna casserole has been a beloved comfort food in American households since the 1950s. This classic dish typically consists of canned tuna, noodles, cream of mushroom soup, and a crunchy topping of breadcrumbs or potato chips. It gained popularity as a convenient and budget-friendly meal during the post-war era. Chefs and home cooks have put their own spin on the recipe, adding ingredients like peas, cheese, or even potato flakes. While it may not have the gourmet appeal of other dishes, tuna casserole remains a nostalgic favorite. Today, the best versions can be found in diners and family kitchens across the United States.
