Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of packed brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well blended.
- Mix in 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt until just combined.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are golden.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips over the hot crust.
- Let the chocolate chips melt for a few minutes, then spread them evenly over the crust.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped pecans over the melted chocolate.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
