Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of packed brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well blended.
  • Mix in 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt until just combined.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are golden.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips over the hot crust.
  • Let the chocolate chips melt for a few minutes, then spread them evenly over the crust.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped pecans over the melted chocolate.
  • Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
