Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices of American cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions.
- Flatten each portion into a thin patty.
- Season 4 of the patties with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Place a slice of American cheese in the center of each seasoned patty.
- Cover each cheese-topped patty with one of the remaining patties, and pinch the edges to seal the cheese inside.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the stuffed patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in the skillet for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patties on the bottom buns and adding optional toppings as desired.
- Top with the remaining buns, and serve hot.
