Ingredients

  • 3 lbs beef brisket
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 4 sandwich buns

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp paprika, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp onion powder, 1 tbsp chili powder, 1 tbsp cumin, 1 tbsp salt, and 1 tbsp black pepper to create a dry rub.
  • Rub the dry rub all over the beef brisket, ensuring it is well coated. Let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
  • Preheat the smoker to 225°F (110°C) using hickory or oak wood for smoke flavor.
  • Place the brisket in the smoker and cook for 6 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).
  • Remove the brisket from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes. Slice the brisket thinly against the grain.
  • In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of beef broth and 1 cup of BBQ sauce over medium heat. Once heated, add the sliced brisket to the sauce and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Toast the sandwich buns in the oven or on a grill until lightly golden.
  • Assemble the sandwiches by placing a generous portion of the BBQ brisket on the bottom half of each bun. Add extra BBQ sauce if desired and cover with the top half of the bun.
