Swedish

Swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce have a rich history dating back to the 18th century. This iconic dish is a staple of Swedish cuisine, known for its savory, tender meatballs and the sweet-tart flavor of lingonberry sauce. Chefs in Sweden, such as Tore Wretman, have popularized this dish, making it a must-try for visitors. The best version of this dish can be found in traditional Swedish restaurants in Stockholm, where the meatballs are made with a blend of ground beef and pork, seasoned with nutmeg and allspice. Lingonberry sauce, a crucial accompaniment, adds a delightful contrast to the savory meatballs.
