  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • Punch the dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a 12x10-inch rectangle. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon; spread over dough. Sprinkle with nuts if desired. Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side; pinch seam to seal. Cut into 12 slices.
  • Place the slices cut side down in a greased 13x9-inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • While the buns are baking, prepare the cream cheese glaze. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and beat until creamy. Gradually add enough milk to achieve a drizzling consistency.
