Instructions

  • Rinse 1 cup of lentils and 1 cup of basmati rice under cold water. Set aside.
  • In a large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 diced onion and cook until translucent.
  • Add 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the pot. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the rinsed lentils and rice to the pot, and stir to coat them with the spices and oil.
