  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 2 jalapenos, sliced
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 2 jalapenos, sliced
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork until smooth.
  • Add the bread crumbs, red onion, garlic, chipotle pepper, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed black beans. Mix until well combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties.
  • Heat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until heated through and grill marks appear.
  • While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill.
  • To assemble the burgers, place a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice on the bottom half of each bun. Place a black bean patty on top, followed by a few slices of avocado and jalapeno. Top with the other half of the bun.
  • Serve the spicy chipotle black bean burgers with avocado and jalapenos immediately and enjoy!
