Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and pickles for topping

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Add the chicken breasts to the bowl, making sure they are fully coated in the buttermilk mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  • In a shallow dish, mix the flour with an additional teaspoon of salt and black pepper.
  • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then dredge each piece in the seasoned flour until fully coated.
  • In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  • Toast the hamburger buns in the skillet for 1-2 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  • Assemble the sandwiches by placing a piece of lettuce, a tomato slice, and a pickle on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a crispy chicken breast and the remaining bun half.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your spicy chicken sandwiches!
