Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 hamburger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, spicy mayo
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mash 1 cup of the black beans with a fork or potato masher.
- Add the remaining black beans, bread crumbs, onion, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the burger patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are heated through and have a crispy exterior.
- Toast the hamburger buns in the skillet for 1-2 minutes, until lightly browned.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the buns and adding your choice of toppings.
- Serve the spicy black bean burgers hot and enjoy!
