  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface.
  • Top each slice of bread with 2 slices of smoked turkey, a portion of the caramelized onions, and 2 slices of cheddar cheese. Place the remaining slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
