Sloppy Joe is a classic American sandwich with a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. The exact origins of the dish are debated, but it is believed to have been popularized in the 1930s. The sandwich typically consists of ground beef, onions, tomato sauce, and seasonings, served on a hamburger bun. Some variations include additional ingredients like bell peppers or hot sauce for an extra kick. The name "Sloppy Joe" is said to have originated from a bar in Key West, Florida, where a cook named Joe created the messy, yet delicious, sandwich. Today, the best versions of Sloppy Joe can be found in diners and casual eateries across the United States, with each region adding its own unique twist to the recipe.
