Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook 1 pound of ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, diced carrots, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, 1 cup of beef broth, and 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened.
- Add 1 cup of frozen peas to the skillet and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups of mashed sweet potatoes, 1/4 cup of milk, and 2 tablespoons of butter. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to a baking dish. Spread the sweet potato mash evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the sweet potato topping is lightly golden.
