Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup snap peas
- 3 green onions, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Add the sliced chicken and toss to coat. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
- In another small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1/4 cup of chicken broth. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the sliced bell peppers, snap peas, green onions, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Pour the soy sauce and chicken broth mixture over the chicken and vegetables. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the chicken and vegetables.
- Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the stir-fry and toss to combine.
- Serve the sesame ginger chicken stir-fry over cooked rice and enjoy!
Sesame Ginger Chicken Stir-Fry is a popular dish with origins in Asian cuisine. This flavorful stir-fry has a rich history, with its roots in traditional Chinese cooking. The dish gained popularity in the West due to its delicious combination of tender chicken, crisp vegetables, and a savory, slightly sweet sesame ginger sauce. Renowned chefs like Ming Tsai and Martin Yan have popularized this dish, incorporating their own unique twists. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in authentic Chinese restaurants, particularly in regions with a strong culinary tradition such as Sichuan or Guangdong. The key to a perfect Sesame Ginger Chicken Stir-Fry lies in the balance of flavors and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients. The sesame and ginger play a crucial role in creating the signature taste of this dish, so it's important to get these elements just right. For those looking for a famous alternative method, some chefs recommend marinating the chicken in a ginger and sesame-infused sauce before stir-frying to enhance the flavors. Whether enjoyed in a bustling Chinatown eatery or homemade in your own kitchen, Sesame Ginger Chicken Stir-Fry continues to delight food enthusiasts with its aromatic and delectable appeal.
