Ingredients
- 4 tuna steaks (6 ounces each)
- 1 cup quinoa
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
Instructions
- Rinse the quinoa under cold water using a fine-mesh strainer. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the rinsed quinoa, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, garlic, and sesame oil to make the marinade for the tuna steaks.
- Season the tuna steaks with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Once the skillet is hot, add the tuna steaks and sear for 2 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if desired. Remove from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
- While the tuna is resting, divide the cooked quinoa among 4 plates. Place a seared tuna steak on top of the quinoa on each plate.
- Drizzle the tuna steaks with the prepared marinade and sprinkle with chopped green onions. Serve immediately and enjoy!
