  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, cook 1 pound of sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened.
  • Stir in 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
  • Gradually pour in 1 cup of chicken broth and 1/2 cup of heavy cream, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  • Stir in 1 teaspoon of dried thyme, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Layer the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish. Top with the cooked sausage and pour the creamy mixture over the top.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil, sprinkle 1 cup of cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese over the casserole, and return to the oven for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
