Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  • Add 1 cup of softened butter, 4 eggs, 1 cup of milk, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly into 6 small bowls. Add a different color of gel food coloring to each bowl and mix until the batter is evenly colored.
  • Spoon a small amount of each colored batter into the prepared cake pans, creating a rainbow swirl pattern.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
