American

Rainbow Jello Salad has been a beloved potluck and holiday dish in the United States since the mid-20th century. This colorful and festive dessert is made by layering different flavors of Jello, often in rainbow colors, with a creamy or fruity filling in between. The dish gained popularity in the 1950s and 1960s, becoming a staple at family gatherings and church suppers. Chefs and home cooks alike have put their own spin on the recipe, adding fruits, marshmallows, or whipped cream to enhance the flavors and textures. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found at traditional American diners and potluck gatherings, where it continues to be a nostalgic and delightful treat. For the best results, it's important to allow each Jello layer to set properly before adding the next, ensuring a beautiful and distinct rainbow effect.
