  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups warm water, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 2 teaspoons kosher salt. Sprinkle 1 package of active dry yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • Add 4 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour and mix until the dough comes together. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water and 1/4 cup of baking soda to a boil.

  • In a shallow dish, mix 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon. Brush the baked pretzels with melted butter and immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until coated.
