Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for frying

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together 3 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  • Add 1 large egg, 3/4 cup of sour cream, and 1/3 cup of softened butter to the flour mixture. Knead the dough until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the cooked and crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, and finely chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut out circles using a cookie cutter or a glass. Place a spoonful of the bacon and cheddar filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal, creating a half-moon shape.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pierogi in batches for about 3-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the boiled pierogi and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  • Serve the bacon and cheddar pierogi hot, with sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
