- Allow the glaze to set before serving. Enjoy these delightful petit fours!
Petit fours, meaning "small oven" in French, have a rich history dating back to the 18th century. These bite-sized confections were initially created by French pastry chefs to showcase their skills and delight the royal court with an array of flavors and textures. Today, these dainty treats are enjoyed worldwide, often served at upscale restaurants, patisseries, and high tea gatherings. The best versions of petit fours can be found in renowned French patisseries, where talented pastry chefs meticulously craft each tiny delight. The key to perfect petit fours lies in achieving a delicate balance of flavors and textures, from moist cake layers to smooth glazes and intricate decorations. While traditional petit fours are made with layers of sponge cake, alternative methods include using almond or chocolate bases, offering a delightful twist on this classic treat.
