  • Assorted toppings (crushed nuts, sprinkles, etc.)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, cream together 1/4 cup of softened butter and 1/4 cup of powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the bowl. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and roll it into a long, thin log shape. Cut the log into 20 equal-sized sticks.
  • Place the sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes, or until the sticks are lightly golden. Allow them to cool completely.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup of chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted.
  • Dip each cooled stick into the melted chocolate, coating it halfway. Sprinkle with assorted toppings if desired.
  • Place the dipped sticks back on the parchment paper and allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Once set, the homemade Pepero sticks are ready to enjoy or gift.
