Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 4 sea bass fillets (6 oz each)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, and chives)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound mixed vegetables (such as bell peppers, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the chopped fresh herbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
  • Pat the sea bass fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the sea bass fillets to the skillet, skin side down. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown. Carefully flip the fillets and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the fish is cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • While the sea bass is cooking, toss the mixed vegetables with the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, salt, and pepper on a baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized.
  • To serve, divide the roasted vegetables among 4 plates. Top each plate with a pan-seared sea bass fillet and a dollop of herb butter. Enjoy!

Mediterranean

The history of Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Herb Butter dates back to the Mediterranean region, where the dish was perfected by skilled chefs who sought to highlight the delicate flavor of the sea bass. The sea bass is carefully seared to achieve a crispy exterior while maintaining its tender, flaky texture. The herb butter, infused with aromatic herbs like thyme, rosemary, and parsley, adds a rich and savory element to the dish. The roasted vegetables, such as asparagus, cherry tomatoes, and baby potatoes, complement the sea bass with their caramelized sweetness and earthy flavors. This dish has become a staple in upscale seafood restaurants, particularly along the coastlines of Italy, Greece, and Spain. For the best version of this dish, sourcing fresh, high-quality sea bass is crucial, as it is the star ingredient. Additionally, mastering the art of searing the fish to perfection and creating a flavorful herb butter are essential steps in achieving an exceptional Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Herb Butter. While the traditional method involves pan-searing, an alternative approach is to grill the sea bass for a smoky twist on the classic dish.
