  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms

Instructions

  • In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are tender and browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
  • Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  • During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each burger patty and allow it to melt.
  • Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
  • Assemble the burgers by spreading 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of ketchup on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice on top of the sauce.
  • Place a burger patty with melted Swiss cheese on top of the tomato slice, then spoon a generous amount of the sautéed mushrooms on top of the cheese.
