Lebanese Shish Tawook

Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 onion, cut into chunks
- 1 bell pepper, cut into chunks
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of plain yogurt, 4 cloves of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the 1.5 lbs of cubed chicken breasts to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken, chunks of onion, and bell pepper onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- Grill the skewers for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
- Serve the shish tawook hot with pita bread, garlic sauce, and a side of tabbouleh salad. Enjoy!
