  • Gradually add the water and mix until the dough comes together. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin with butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle. Sprinkle 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of chocolate chips over the dough. Fold the dough into thirds, like a letter, then roll it out again into a large rectangle.
  • Cut the dough into 12 equal squares. Place each square into the prepared muffin tin, pressing down gently.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the Kouign Amann is golden brown and crispy.
