Italian Sausage and Pepper Hoagie on Garlic Bread
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 Italian sausage links
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage links and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the sliced bell peppers, onion, and minced garlic until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
- While the peppers and onions are cooking, slice the hoagie rolls in half and spread each half with 1 tablespoon of butter and sprinkle with minced garlic and Parmesan cheese. Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Once the peppers and onions are done, return the browned Italian sausage links to the skillet and toss to combine with the peppers and onions. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- To assemble the hoagies, place a sausage link and a generous portion of the pepper and onion mixture on each garlic bread hoagie roll. Serve hot and enjoy!
