Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of honey, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Place the salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the honey mixture over the salmon fillets, coating them evenly.
- Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
- While the salmon is baking, prepare the maple pecan glaze. In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup of maple syrup over medium heat. Stir in 1/4 cup of chopped pecans and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the glaze thickens slightly.
- Once the salmon is cooked, remove it from the oven and drizzle the maple pecan glaze over the top of each fillet.
- Serve the honey glazed salmon with maple pecan glaze immediately, and enjoy!
The history of honey glazed salmon topped with a maple pecan glaze can be traced back to the fusion of traditional salmon recipes with modern culinary techniques. This dish combines the sweetness of honey and maple syrup with the nutty flavor of pecans to create a delightful glaze for the salmon. Renowned chefs in the Pacific Northwest, known for their expertise in seafood, have popularized this dish, incorporating local ingredients and flavors. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in upscale seafood restaurants in Seattle and Vancouver. The key to perfecting this dish lies in sourcing high-quality salmon and balancing the sweetness of the glaze with the natural flavors of the fish. For a unique twist, some chefs also incorporate a hint of citrus or a touch of heat to elevate the flavor profile of the dish.
