Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar, 1/4 cup honey, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag and pour half of the balsamic-honey mixture over the chicken. Seal the bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  • Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the used marinade.
  • Grill the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • While the chicken is grilling, pour the remaining balsamic-honey mixture into a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the glaze has thickened slightly.
  • Once the chicken is cooked through, brush the glaze over the chicken during the last 2-3 minutes of grilling.
  • Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with your favorite sides. Enjoy!

Honey Balsamic Glazed Chicken is a delectable dish that originated in Italy, known for its sweet and tangy flavor. The dish gained popularity in the United States in the 1990s, thanks to renowned chefs like Mario Batali and Lidia Bastianich who introduced it to their menus. The succulent chicken is marinated in a mixture of honey, balsamic vinegar, and herbs, then grilled or roasted to perfection. The dish has since become a staple in Italian-American cuisine, with variations found in restaurants across the country. For the best version of this dish, look for a restaurant with a wood-fired oven, as the smoky flavor adds an extra dimension to the glaze. The key to getting it right lies in the balance of sweetness from the honey and the acidity of the balsamic vinegar, creating a harmonious flavor profile that tantalizes the taste buds.
