Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Rinse the turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, rosemary, thyme, and sage.
  • Season the turkey with salt and pepper, then carefully loosen the skin from the breast and drumsticks. Spread the herb butter mixture under the skin and over the turkey.
  • Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan. Cover with aluminum foil.
  • Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for 2 1/2 hours, basting occasionally with the pan drippings.
  • Remove the foil and brush the turkey with maple syrup. Return to the oven and continue roasting uncovered for an additional 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 180 degrees F (80 degrees C) when measured in the thickest part of the thigh.
  • Allow the turkey to rest for 20 minutes before carving. Enjoy!
