South African

Homemade biltong, a South African delicacy, has a rich history dating back to the early Dutch settlers who used vinegar and spices to preserve meat. Over time, this traditional recipe has evolved, with modern chefs adding a touch of honey to enhance the flavor profile. The addition of honey brings a subtle sweetness to the savory, cured meat, creating a perfect balance of flavors. Today, biltong is enjoyed not only in South Africa but also in various parts of the world, with restaurants and chefs putting their own unique spin on this beloved dish. For the best version of this dish, look for biltong made with high-quality cuts of meat and a perfect blend of spices, ensuring a tender and flavorful result. Whether enjoyed as a snack or part of a charcuterie board, homemade biltong with a touch of honey is a true culinary delight.
