Homemade Advocaat with a Splash of Rum

Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of grated nutmeg
- 1/2 cup of rum
Instructions
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk together 6 egg yolks and 1 cup of powdered sugar until well combined.
- Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Cook, stirring constantly, for about 5-7 minutes or until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove the bowl from the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, stir in 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of grated nutmeg until well combined.
- Gradually stir in 1/2 cup of rum until smooth and creamy.
- Transfer the advocaat to a clean, airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve chilled in small glasses and enjoy!
