  • In a heatproof bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1 cup of powdered sugar until well combined.
  • Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Continue to whisk the mixture for about 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  • Remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally to prevent a skin from forming on the surface.
  • Once cooled, stir in 1/2 cup of brandy, 1/4 cup of rum, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the advocaat mixture until fully incorporated.
  • Divide the advocaat into serving glasses and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  • Top with an additional dollop of whipped cream before serving, if desired.
