Ingredients
- For Gyros:
- 1 lb of lamb or chicken, thinly sliced
- 4 pita bread
- 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp of dried oregano
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For Greek Salad:
- 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1/2 cup of Kalamata olives
- 4 oz of feta cheese, crumbled
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 tbsp of red wine vinegar
- 1 tsp of dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- For Gyros:
- In a bowl, combine the sliced lamb or chicken with minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, diced cucumber, and a pinch of salt to make the tzatziki sauce. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated meat and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes for lamb and 7-10 minutes for chicken.
