Greek

Greek Baked Cod with Orzo is a traditional Greek dish that combines the fresh flavors of the Mediterranean with tender, flaky cod and hearty orzo pasta. This dish has its roots in the coastal regions of Greece, where fresh seafood is abundant and a staple of the local cuisine. The cod is typically marinated in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, and Mediterranean herbs, then baked to perfection. The orzo is cooked in a flavorful broth with tomatoes, onions, and garlic, infusing it with rich, savory flavors. The dish is then assembled and baked until the cod is tender and the orzo is perfectly al dente. One renowned chef known for his expertise in Greek cuisine is Yannis Boutaris, who has popularized this dish in his restaurant in Thessaloniki, Greece. His version of Greek Baked Cod with Orzo has gained a reputation for its perfect balance of flavors and textures, attracting locals and tourists alike. For the best version of this dish, sourcing high-quality, fresh cod is essential. The marinade should not be overlooked, as it infuses the fish with the bright, zesty flavors that are characteristic of Greek cuisine. Additionally, using authentic Greek olive oil and herbs will elevate the dish to an authentic Mediterranean experience. An alternative method for making this dish is to grill the cod instead of baking it, adding a smoky char to the fish that complements the fresh, tangy flavors of the orzo. This variation is popular in seaside tavernas throughout Greece, where the aroma of grilled seafood wafts through the air, enticing diners to indulge in this classic Greek dish.
