Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Toss to coat the beef evenly and set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Pour in 1/2 cup of beef broth, 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the beef is heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve the ginger beef stir-fry over cooked rice. Enjoy!
Ginger Beef Stir-fry is a popular Chinese dish that originated in the Sichuan province. This flavorful dish is a perfect blend of tender beef, fresh ginger, and a variety of vegetables, all stir-fried to perfection. The dish gained popularity in North America in the 1970s, particularly in Calgary, Canada, where it was first introduced by chef George Wong at the Silver Inn restaurant. The dish quickly became a local favorite and eventually spread to other parts of the world. Today, the best versions of Ginger Beef Stir-fry can be found in authentic Chinese restaurants, where chefs use high-quality beef and fresh ginger to create a mouthwatering dish that is both savory and aromatic. The key to a perfect Ginger Beef Stir-fry lies in the quality of the beef and the balance of flavors in the ginger-infused sauce. For a twist on the traditional recipe, some chefs also incorporate ingredients like garlic, soy sauce, and chili peppers to add depth and heat to the dish. Whether you're a fan of traditional Chinese cuisine or simply love a good stir-fry, Ginger Beef Stir-fry is a must-try dish that will tantalize your taste buds with its rich flavors and tender beef.
