Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Edible glitter in assorted colors
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream 1 cup of softened butter with 1 1/4 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Tint each portion with a different color of edible glitter, gently kneading until the glitter is evenly distributed.
- Roll out each colored dough portion to 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Use star-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and transfer them to the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, sprinkle the cookies with additional edible glitter for extra sparkle. Enjoy your galaxy sugar cookies!
