  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Black, purple, blue, and pink food coloring gel

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/4 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of milk, melted butter, eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/2 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter to cut out donut shapes. Place the donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a kitchen towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  • Bake the donuts for 10-12 minutes, or until they are lightly golden. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together 3 cups of powdered sugar, 1/4 cup of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to make the icing.
  • Divide the icing into separate bowls and tint each bowl with black, purple, blue, and pink food coloring gel to create a galaxy effect.
  • Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the galaxy-themed icing and allow the excess to drip off. Place the donuts back on the wire rack to set the icing.
  • Enjoy your stunning galaxy donuts!
