Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two 9x5 inch loaf pans.
  • In a large bowl, sift together 3 1/2 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of baking soda, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 3 cups of granulated sugar, 1 cup of vegetable oil, and 4 large eggs until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with 2/3 cup of water, mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in 1 15-ounce can of pumpkin puree until the batter is smooth.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared loaf pans.
  • Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool the loaves in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
