Crepe, a thin pancake of French origin, has a rich history dating back to the 12th century. Originating in the Brittany region of France, crepes were initially made with buckwheat flour and served with savory fillings. Over time, they gained popularity throughout France and beyond, evolving to include sweet variations with wheat flour. Renowned chefs like Julia Child and Jacques Pépin have popularized crepes in the culinary world. Today, the best crepes can be found in Parisian cafes, where they are expertly prepared and filled with a variety of ingredients such as Nutella, strawberries, and whipped cream. The key to a perfect crepe lies in achieving a delicate, lacy texture and mastering the art of flipping it with finesse. While the classic recipe calls for simple ingredients like flour, eggs, milk, and butter, alternative methods using different flours or dairy-free options have also gained popularity.
