Seafood

The history of crab steamer dates back to the coastal regions of the United States, particularly in the Chesapeake Bay area. This traditional seafood dish has been a staple for generations, with its roots in the local fishing and culinary traditions. The dish typically features fresh crabs, seasoned with a blend of spices and steamed to perfection. Chefs in Maryland and Virginia have perfected the art of preparing crab steamer, often using Old Bay seasoning for a signature flavor. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in renowned seafood restaurants along the East Coast. The key to a great crab steamer lies in using high-quality, fresh crabs and mastering the seasoning blend for a truly authentic taste. For those looking to try an alternative method, some chefs opt for adding beer to the steaming liquid for an extra depth of flavor.
