Classic Cheeseburger
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sliced pickles
- 1/4 cup sliced onions
- 1/4 cup lettuce leaves
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties. Season each patty with 1/8 teaspoon of salt and a pinch of black pepper.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and brush with vegetable oil. Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or skillet for about 1 minute, until they are lightly browned.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup and mayonnaise to create the burger sauce.
- Assemble the cheeseburgers by spreading the burger sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a patty with melted cheese on top of the sauce, then add pickles, onions, and lettuce. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve the classic cheeseburgers immediately and enjoy!
The classic cheeseburger has a rich history dating back to the 1920s when Lionel Sternberger, a 16-year-old chef, first added a slice of cheese to a hamburger at his father's Pasadena, California, restaurant. This simple yet revolutionary addition gave birth to the iconic cheeseburger. Today, the classic cheeseburger is a staple in American cuisine, with variations found in diners, fast-food chains, and high-end restaurants across the country. The key to a perfect cheeseburger lies in the quality of the beef patty, the melting of the cheese, and the balance of condiments. Some argue that the best version can be found in the Midwest, where the beef is renowned for its flavor and tenderness. Whether it's a simple diner or a renowned chef's creation, the classic cheeseburger continues to be a beloved comfort food for many.
