Instructions

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of water, 2 1/2 tablespoons of white sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in 1 cup of flour until mixture forms a ball.
  • Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Spoon the dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip. Carefully pipe strips of dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
  • Combine 1/2 cup of white sugar and cinnamon. Roll drained churros in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  • In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce has thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • Serve the churros with the warm caramel sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
