Chocolate Tiramisu with Caramel Sauce
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brewed espresso, cooled
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 2 tablespoons chocolate shavings
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, whisk together 8 ounces of mascarpone cheese, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of cocoa powder, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
- Pour the brewed espresso into a shallow dish. Dip each ladyfinger cookie into the espresso for a few seconds, making sure not to soak them completely, and line the bottom of an 8x8 inch dish with them.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, then drizzle 1/4 cup of caramel sauce on top.
- Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture, then drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup of caramel sauce on top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of chocolate shavings over the top of the tiramisu.
- Slice and enjoy the indulgent chocolate tiramisu with a layer of caramel sauce.
Chocolate Tiramisu with a layer of caramel sauce is a decadent twist on the classic Italian dessert. This indulgent treat combines layers of rich chocolate, creamy mascarpone cheese, and delicate ladyfinger biscuits soaked in espresso, with a luscious caramel sauce adding a delightful sweetness. The history of Tiramisu dates back to the 1960s in the Veneto region of Italy, where it was created by chef Roberto Linguanotto. Today, this delightful variation can be found in upscale Italian restaurants and patisseries around the world. For the best version of this dish, look for a restaurant with a skilled pastry chef who can expertly balance the flavors of chocolate, caramel, and coffee. The key to getting this dish right lies in the quality of the chocolate, the smoothness of the mascarpone, and the perfect balance of sweetness in the caramel sauce.
