  • 1/2 cup of chopped pistachios

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, separate the kunafa dough strands and mix with melted butter until well coated.
  • Press half of the kunafa dough into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish to form an even layer.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the kunafa dough layer.
  • Cover the cheese with the remaining kunafa dough, pressing down gently to form another even layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the kunafa is golden brown and crispy.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the rose water.
  • Once the kunafa is baked, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the sugar syrup evenly over the hot kunafa. Allow it to soak for 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the chopped pistachios over the kunafa.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted.
  • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the kunafa.
  • Serve each portion of kunafa with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
