Instructions

  • Prepare the kunafa dough according to package instructions and spread half of it in the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a pan, combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Cook over medium heat until the sugar caramelizes and turns golden brown. Add the mixed nuts and stir to coat them in the caramel. Pour the caramelized nuts over the layer of kunafa dough in the baking dish.
  • Spread the remaining half of the kunafa dough over the caramelized nuts and press gently to seal the layers together. Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the kunafa is golden brown and crispy.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup of chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the baked kunafa.
  • Allow the kunafa to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
