Chocolate Chip Brioche with Cinnamon Swirl
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of warm water
- 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup of chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and 2 eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
- Add the softened butter and continue to knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
- Roll up the dough tightly from the long side, then slice it in half lengthwise to expose the layers. Twist the two halves together and place in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the pan with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Beat the remaining egg and brush it over the top of the brioche.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the brioche is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow the brioche to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
