Chicken Fried Steak, a beloved Southern comfort food, has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. This iconic dish is said to have originated from German and Austrian immigrants who brought the tradition of Wiener Schnitzel to Texas. The extra crispy breading is a key element, providing a satisfying crunch with every bite. Chefs across the South, from Texas to Tennessee, have perfected their own versions, each adding their unique twist to the classic recipe. The best Chicken Fried Steak can be found in renowned Southern diners and family-owned restaurants, where the meat is tenderized, coated in seasoned flour, and fried to golden perfection. For an extra crispy breading, some chefs use a combination of flour and breadcrumbs, ensuring a delightful crunch that sets their dish apart. Whether it's served with creamy gravy or a side of mashed potatoes, the extra crispy breading adds an irresistible texture to this timeless Southern favorite.
