Caramel Apple Bars with a crumbly oat topping have a rich history rooted in American baking traditions. This delectable dessert combines the sweet and tangy flavors of caramel and apples with a buttery oat crumble. The dish is believed to have originated in the Midwest, where bakers sought to create a portable version of classic caramel apples. Renowned chefs and home bakers alike have put their own spin on this beloved treat, incorporating locally sourced apples and artisanal caramels for a truly indulgent experience. For the best version of this dish, look for a recipe that balances the sweetness of the caramel with the tartness of the apples, and ensures a perfectly crumbly oat topping.
