- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 4 cups apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, toss the chopped apples with granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust in the baking dish. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples.
- Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the apple layer, pressing lightly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender. Allow to cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into bars. Enjoy!
