Brown Butter Blondies
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two opposite sides for easy removal.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, continue to cook, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter turns a deep golden brown color and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to burn the butter. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, mix the brown sugar and slightly cooled brown butter until well combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the white chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to overbake.
- Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan before using the parchment paper overhang to lift them out and transfer to a cutting board. Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy!
